20 Pounds of Pumpkin

This is 20 lbs. of Pumpkin

So is this.

Back when I planted my garden in January, I bought a pie pumpkin seed packet mix. It contained small sugar pumpkin seeds and these green, hybrid pumpkin seeds. However, I completely forgot what I planted, and thought these were jack-o-lanterns. I wondered why they weren't getting orange... but figured they would turn eventually.
I pulled my seed packets out over the weekend to plant another batch of seeds in peat pots, and realized that these are pie pumpkins. I had 3 pumpkins, a 12lb. large, an 8lb. medium, and a 3 lb. small pumpkin. I picked them all, and decided to see what would happen if I roasted them.. The small wasn't ripe, but the medium and large were ready!
So here it is, 20 lbs. of pumpkin puree, straining in cheesecloth. Tomorrow I'll be either canning it or freezing it... not sure. But what I do know is I will be making a pumpkin pie, completely from scratch, in the near future. 1 point for my garden :)

This is so cool! I'd really like to try to roast pumpkin this year. And, the green color is beautiful. It'd be great for decoration in the fall.

AWESOME! I am so jealous. Given how much pumpkin I eat, if there was one thing I could plant...pumpkin would be it. I can't wait to see what you do with all of it!

At first I was like, "she planted her garden in January?!" Then I remembered you are in quite the different climate than me. I still have months to wait for my winter squash to come in. I hope mine are as successful!
