However, all of my readers here and on my other blogs have been SO supportive during my crazy moves, changing jobs, adopting dogs, etc. I wish I could give away a million books, but at $25 each, it's just too costly for me! I am not making money off the books, if I was I'd use it towards giving away more.
So here's your chance to get your very own copy of my cookbook!
To enter, leave a comment here with your favorite creative appetizer(s) because I'm working on my housewarming party menu and need some ideas!

I will use random.org to determine the winner. Enter by Sunday, 10/25/09 at 10:00PM EST.
Winner will be announced Monday at 8AM. Enter only once, please :)

We always love spinich artichoke dip warmed up, but wish there was a less messy way to eat it than as a dip. Maybe in a wrap and cut like pinwheels?
I like to take carmelized onions, pesto and chavrie, lay them on a plate side by side and serve with crostini. It's an amazing combination
I think the baked macaroni and cheese bites that were on the Macaroni and Cheesecake blog looked wonderful.
Or buffalo chicken dip. So good, so addicting. I want some now!
I make these little skewers with turkey sausage, roasted red pepper, artichokes, and basil!!
Like Melissa said, if I win - I want it signed! :-) As for apps, I always like seeing fruit displayed in creative ways (a basket made from a watermelon, etc.), but I'm really a sucker for just a really good cheeseball and crackers.
I made Giada's Smoked Mozzarella and Ricotta Fritters last year and they were really good!
Pioneer Womans Stuff Mushrooms are to die for!!
My favorite party appetizers are these grape jelly meatballs. They are always a huge hit!

Baked Brie in puff pastry with raspberry preserves - YUM!
This year for my Dad's Birthday party I made an app. of Bosc Pears slices topped with herbed goat cheese and wrapped in bacon. Bake until pears are tender and bacon is fully cooked. Drizzle with honey. I never got so many compliments on something I made before.
A treat we have been enjoying in Germany is called Datteln & Pflaumen im Speckmantel which is plums wrapped in bacon. SOOO delicious!

Mushroom Onion Tartlets. They're vegetarian but everyone thinks they're stuffed with sausage. So delicious! Instead of making my own pastry puffs, I use the Athenos mini fillo pastry shells. A must try!

My new favorite is these shrimp wonton cups. Chop up pre-cooked shrimp, roasted red peppers, green onions, 1 cup of roated corn salsa and cheese. Then cook in pre-baked won ton cups in the oven. I believe it was a recipe from Cooking Light.
i chop up an apple into small bits - sometimes mixing two types of half apples, sprinkle on cinnamon and a little brown and white sugar. Then I unroll crescent rolls, smear some apple mixture on, roll into crescents and bake - they are yummy!
you could use the new pillsbury dough sheets, spread apples over it, roll it up like a jelly roll and carefull slice pinwheels out - that would be great too.
you might make a flavored cream cheese or butter spread to go with this too!
little tostada bites with guacamole and a grilled shrimp. They are delish! oh and PS I must win a copy!
puff pastry spread with goat cheese and topped with tomato & basil is SO yummy.
Or, I make a very yummy spinach & artichoke dip. As well as a pretty good buffalo chicken dip!
I love to make gyoza or potstickers! They are so good and an absolute hit with my friends!
buffalo chicken dip or cookie dough dip!! yum, yum!!
My favorite appetizers to make are anything inside of a wonton wrapper! Buffalo chicken bites are always a big hit- chicken, finely diced onion, cream cheese, and hot sauce- all stuffed inside of wonton wraps and baked until crispy. YUM!
I love blue cheese filled figs wrapped in bacon.. not very creative but yummy!
A big hit for me has been a curried cream cheese and chutney dip. It has a very interesting combination of flavors.
Congrats.. it is great to see all you have accomplished. You are a role model. My fav app to make is just simple little cheese filled smokies in a crockpot with bbq sauce. Good in the fall
I love making dips for appetizers. Not too terribly creative. I made a buffalo chicken dip that was to die for a while ago.
The best one I like is those mini sausages with some bbq sauce and a little bit of grape jelly. Throw those bad boys into a crockpot and you are set!
Hi,
My favorite is a celary sticks with cream cheese and olives. I cut up the olives or get them sliced and mix them with softened cream cheese. Then I stuff them in with celary sticks that are cut up to smaller size, like 4 per celary stick. It is soo good and such a hit with everyone I know. Thanks for your consideration for the book!
I love to make these crab cakes in miniature as apps - you can get three little cakes out of the same amount as one big one - pricey but worth the splurge. http://bit.ly/3ofNaw
Not creative, but salsa + tortilla chips always go over well :)
I love cold veggie pizza!
http://amberskitchen.blogspot.com/2008/12/cold-veggie-pizza.html
And the book definitely needs to be signed!!
It's not fancy or anything, but buffalo chicken dip is the best app in my opinion! Everyone loves it, it's easy to through together, and I always get tons of compliments!
I hope I win! haha My favorite appetizer is probably one that we had at our wedding- miniature kobe beef burgers!
That's cool, your own cookbook!
My new favorite is Chili Brie Sourdough. Mix 1 t chili powder, 1/2 t gr. mustard, 1/2 t garlic powder,1/2 t sugar. Cut top out of round sourdough loaf & remove insides (the size of a wheel of brie.) Brush insides with 1 T melted butter. Sprinkle 2 t of spice mixture. Place brie inside (minue rind)& top with remaining spice. Make cuts in edge of bread, replace top & bake for 20-30 mins. at 350. Break pieces of bread for dipping.
My favorite appetizer is one I had a restaurant and then came home to recreate. It's a caramelized onion and goat cheese tart - YUM!
Congrats on your cookbook, by the way and thanks for the opportunity to win a copy.
i like to marinate chicken wings in teriyaki sauce and bake it in the oven and voila....perfection!
My favorite app is velveta/rotel queso dip, it's so yummy! but you asked for creative, so here's something i made recently that people seemed to love.
Baby BLT's - fill cherry tomatoes with the following mixture:
•1/2 pound bacon, cooked and crumbled
•1/4 cup light mayonnaise
•3 oz. light cream cheese, softened
•1/4 cup green onions, chopped
•1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
this makes about 24 tomatoes!
One of my favorites is very simple...
Flax pita bread-cut into triangles and bake until golden. Serve with salsa & guac! YUM!
These aren't very creative but they're always delicious!
-Buffalo Chicken Dip "crack dip"
-Bacon wrapped smokies
-Anything made in wonton wrappers
-Ham and Pickle rollup dip
Combine equal parts of cream cheese and sour cream with diced ham (lunch meat type ham) and cut up pickles. Tastes just like the rollup, but in dip form!
I agree with previous comments, please sign the book! :)
Stuffed mushrooms using seafood stuffing or mini crab cakes with mango salsa
My grandma makes these:
Ritz crackers with red pepper jelly and cream cheese.
I like shrimp and cocktail sauce. Yum. They are great appetizers, and boy, do they go fast!
We like to do a nacho bar. All the fixins and you make your own nachos and pop it in the oven or micro to get it a little melted!
It's football season so our favorite app is wrapping little smokies in bacon and covering them with brown sugar in the slow cooker.
I am loving anything that I can put into a wonton wrapper!
fruit salsa with cinnamon chips!
Pioneer Woman's Olive Cheese Bread is AMAZING!!
http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2007/06/olive_cheese_br/
I really like to make procuitto wrapped figs or homemade white castle sliders (recipe on my blog)
You are being generous! That cookbook is awesome! Anyone would be lucky to have it!
How about some mini quiches? I can never stop eating those! Another favorite is lil' smokies with a bbq glaze!
I currently really like stuffed strawberries, you simply cut out the top and pipe in filling. They are so pretty and a good chance to be creative!
Jalapeno Popper dip!! It's amazing!
-Stacey
Here is one of my football favorites! Also have made it for happy hours too.
Pepper Wienies
1) Empty 2 packs of lil' Smokies into crockpot
2) Dump a jar of mild pepper rings with juice into crockpot
3) follow with a small can of tomato paste (i use contadina)(it will be prety thick but will thin out in a bit)
4) cook on low for about a few hours, don't overcook as they will become mushy, be sure to stir regularly
Enjoy!
My favorite app is goat cheese tomato tarts. I got the recipe from Ina Garten and it can be found on Food Network's website. I try to cut things out to make them a little healthier and make them smaller for less calories.
Thanks for the giveaway!
Definitely autograph the book for the winner!! :)
I <3 so many foods, it's hard to choose! But meatballs are always a hit, are pretty easy, and I'm dying to try the albondigas (Spanish meatballs!) recipe I got in my new cookbook I bought in Spain, so that is my suggestion!
My favorite appetizers are bite size quiches, spinach artichoke dip and mini egg rolls.
Oh, I'll give you three:
1. go to pillsbury.com and look up crescent wrapped brie and serve it with a favorite jam
2. go to atkins.com and look up proscuitto pillows stuffed with goat cheese
3. cut up 2 kielbasa and throw them in an oven proof dish with a bag of brown sugar and throw it in the oven.
I love simple pepper jelly with cream cheese and crackers! What a great giveaway! :)
oh how cool! You know I am not very creative when it comes to appetizers, I am always satisfied with spinach dip...YUM!
We love cream cheese stuffed celery. YUM! Directions: Bring the cream cheese to room temperature. Unwrap the cream cheese and put it in a medium-sized bowl, mashing it with a fork.Mince about one tablespoon of fresh onion and add it to the cream cheese. Add one or two hard shakes of Worcestershire Sauce and mix well. Slice turkey ham into very thin (about 1/8 inch thick or smaller) slices. Blot dry with a paper towel and cut into small cubes. Add the turkey ham to the cream cheese mixture, and mix until well blended. Keep adding finely diced turkey ham until it “looks right” to you, just don’t add so much turkey ham that the cheese cannot hold it together. To serve, stuff the washed and dried celery sticks with the cream cheese mixture.
Love it!
My favorite appetizers are the little pinwheel sandwiches.there are so many different ways to make them.. i just love it!
I like to make some really simple homemade meatballs and cook them in some Sweet Baby Ray's (best BBQ sauce ever!). It is heaven and hard to resist.
I have a mexican spinach dip that gets rave reviews every time! I would be more than glad to share it with you!
ah i'd love to win a copy of your book :)
and you MUST make this praline mix, i promise it'll be a hit: http://mclaurysweets.blogspot.com/2009/09/praline-party-mix.html
Your cookbook is so cute! Love it! I just saw a pretty creative appetizer in the Southern Living magazine today. It is salad skewers or salad kabobs with mustard dill dressing. I really want to try them.
My favorite around this time of year is this cranberry dip served with apples
1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
2 tablespoons frozen orange juice concentrate, thawed (Undiluted)
1 tablespoons granulated sugar
1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Zest (rind) of 1 orange
1/4 cup finely chopped dried cranberries (Craisins)
1/4 cup finely chopped pecans
My favorite apps are any dip....esp. buffalo chicken wing dip and cream cheese chip dip. I also love brie en croute. Yum!
::Sigh:: You are super generous Ash :). My favorite appetizer is dumplings. I bet you could go to town with those coming up with all sorts of stuffing combinations.
That's a tough one. I just love making appetizers whenever I go to a get-together! One of my favorites by far is Jalapenos stuffed with cream cheese, wrapped in bacon, hold with a toothpick and bake! Always a huge hit and no recipe needed! Congratulations on all of your accomplishments, you are an inspiration! And thanks for the offer!
Green sauce salsa. It's a dip associated with Houston area Tex-Mex and made with avocado, tomatoes, tomatillos, garlic, cilantro, sour cream and jalapenos. Very very good - I use tortilla chips or pita bread to dip.
Spinach and artichoke dip served with homemade toasted pita chips. It always gets rave reviews at our get togethers!
Love your blog can't wait to see the cookbook!
Love the blog and would love to win a copy of the cookbook! We served a trio of dips with all kinds of dippers (crudites, bread, pretzels) at our housewarming, and I munched on those all night.
I went to a friend's party over the weekend and she made the cutest little appetizers. I think the most creative were her BLT bites in cherry tomatoes.
They were little cherry tomatoes hollowed out and stuffed with crumbled bacon, mayo, cheese and spices. They tasted JUST like mini BLT's. And they looked SUPER cute!
I will like those pigs in a blanket. I made them out of full hotdogs wrapped in a crossiont (sp?). You had them on your blog a while back. I made them for a work party and they went quickly.
Fresh ricotta with carmelized onions and pancetta on garlic flatbread. A huge hit! I also love figs stuffed with goat cheese wrapped in pancetta!
The appetizer that is always the biggest hit at our church luncheons are bacon baskets. You make these by weaving bacon over the back side of a muffin tin. Bake until crisp and let cool. Meanwhile prepare a chopped salad filled with your favorite veggies, fruits and nuts. Then carefully separate the bacon cup baskets from the tin and fill with salad. It is fabulous and super easy.
caprese salad bites - just a grape or cherry tomato cut in half and put on toothpick with a little chunk of mozzarella and a basil leaf. Drizzle with olive oil. Simple, yet elegant.
Roasted jalapeno poppers filled with provel cheese and Italian sausage. An awesome combination!
My favorite appetizer is super simple and really lo-cal. Mix together one package of neufachel cheese (like cream cheese, but lower fat & lower calories) that has softened at room temperature with a jar of salsa (your choice of brand, but I prefer chunkier salsas). Depending on the type of salsa you use, use anywhere from 1-2 cups. Mix together until well blended and not too "soupy." Spread a layer on burrito-sized flour tortillas. Sprinkle some shredded cheese and then roll the tortilla up. Then, cut into 1/2" to 1" thick pieces. Refrigerate until you serve it. Soooo good!
I really like The Pioneer Womans Olive Cheese Bread. Better for casual get togethers.
http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2007/06/olive_cheese_br/
My favorite appetizer is goat cheese tartlets. I used store bought pie crust and cut them into little circles that fit in my mini cupcake pan. Then I cream together 6 ounces of goat cheese, and egg, salt and pepper. You can bake them as is, but I also like to put a little bit of carmelized onions on top. It's yummy and fun :)!
I just tried this for the first time last weekend, and I'm in love! I'm making it to bring to a party this weekend.

("Rocket" is arugula)
I love blue cheese grapes! You take a mixture of cream cheese, blue cheese, and a tad of milk then cover the grape with the cheese mixture. Then roll in chopped walnuts. Amazing appetizer! I had some leftover from a party and ate them over a salad the next day.
Buffalo Chicken Dip is ALWAYS a hit at my get-togethers!! I always use fat free cream cheese dressing and serve it with celery and carrots as a healthy alternative to chips!
This is very simple: very good blue cheese sliced on a triscuit, with a dab of honey mustard (more honey than mustard). We had this the other night before dinner and it was so awesome.
Mmmm buffalo chicken dip...shredded chicken, cream cheese, hot sauce and ranch...so good!!

I must say...that is the cutest cookbook ever!
Grape Tomatoes & mozzarella chich kebab! Delicious fresh, healthy appetizer :)
An old time tradition in our family during this time of year is taking little weiners/sausages and simmering them in grape jelly and chili sauce. Yummmmm.
Vietnamese spring rolls are always a great appetizer. You can be creative with the filling and it's always delicious and light.
I love to serve a spinach/artichoke dip. A date stuffed with an almond and wrapped in a piece of bacon was something I recently had at a party and knocked my socks off.
